The COVID-19 pandemic emerged as a challenge in the 21st century, demanding a coordinated global response. In this context, the BRICS economic bloc, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, committed to collaboration in research, production, and distribution of resources to fight the virus. This academic work aims to conduct a detailed historical analysis, exploring the evolution of the BRICS health agenda and assessing the effectiveness of the collaboration during the COVID-19 crisis. The research relies on a critical dialogue with specialized literature, as well as the discussions and decisions made during the summits and meetings of the BRICS leaders. The methodology employed includes extensive data research, review of relevant bibliographies, analysis of scientific articles, and examination of institutional reports. From the beginning to the end of the pandemic, the bloc maintained a series of strategic meetings, outlining projects and strategies for combating infectious diseases and enhancing mutual cooperation. The cooperation initiatives included high-level meetings, loan agreements, substantial investments, and strategic partnerships to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic. However, the results indicate that cooperation faced significant obstacles due to the lack of unified strategic alignment. This led to a preference for bilateral agreements, which proved to be more effective and tangible in terms of concrete results.
