A arte no processo de individuação: articulações entre a concepção de gênero e a psicologia analítica

Drag art went through a long journey to reach the recognition it has today. It began to gain visibility in the 60s with the decriminalization of homosexuality and in the following century it already became a political act. However, its existence dates back to ancient civilizations and for many years, the drag character was strictly linked to the act of a man stereotypically impersonating the women of the time. Would the motivation behind drag be related to the experience of feminine-masculine polarities? Based on this reflection, it is proposed a study whose objective is to understand if and how drag art can be a facilitator of the individuation process through the manifestation of symbologies of the feminine and masculine principles. To reach this goal, data collection was carried out through a semi-directed qualitative interview with a Drag Queen. Two photos in which the participant most believed to represent himself were also requested, one mounted and the other not, to aid in the investigation. The analysis method was carried out through the analytical psychology vision, aiming at an interpretative and comprehensive approach to the phenomenons, searching for the meanings and purposes behind the data. Based on this analysis, it was possible to observe that drag art can indeed be a facilitator of the individuation process, since its motivation is often linked not only to art, but to a way for the subject to be who he truly is, in search of himself (or Self). The egalitarian and dialectical meeting of the feminine-masculine poles in the drag-subject relationship, through the various symbologies present in the analysis, make explicit that drag is a facilitator of this integration of unconscious contents into consciousness
