This research has as main objectives to justify the importance of teaching the concepts of descriptive statistics, probability, and combinatorics for elementary school students and highlight two of the twenty-four works approved in the National Textbook Programme 2013 to work with Math Literacy the approach proposed promotes the students' statistical literacy. Here is a brief conceptualization of the theoretical perspective of statistical literacy to be able to discuss it in the analysis of selected works. We also seek to signify the appreciation of the use of the textbook in a historical perspective that sets this material as a traditional support of the teacher in teaching. We characterize the National Textbook and present criteria governing the approval of the works submitted for evaluation. We examine the works in light of the theoretical researched guidelines and review proposals in Instructional Guide Book PNLD 2013. We seek to identify the tasks, techniques and theoretical discourse and technological activities proposed in the present book, based on the assumptions for the identification of Chevallard (1998) in his Anthropological Theory of Didactics. We can conclude, then, that the books promote statistical literacy through the use of vocabulary and specific representations and still seek to associate the study of these elements to the daily lives of children and the practice of citizenship
