For those who have watched RuPaul's Drag Race at least once, it is immediately apparent that all participants in the reality show are homosexuals. What you can not immediately understand is what many of the participants on the race to become the next drag queen superstar have faced in their life to get where they arrived. Homosexuals, in their process of acceptance of sexuality, as well as the construction of their personality, suffer much repression of the society, by the school, by the family, at work, etc. The effeminate gays suffer even more forms of discrimination, since the norms of gender practically inferiorize the man who exhibits feminine expressions and ways of expressing themselves. During the thirteen seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race, the viewer follows the stories of all the drag participants and it is clear how the suffering and the unwanted drives have played a leading role in the past of the great majority. With so much discrimination and suppression, the defense mechanisms occupy a prominent place in the discovery of personality in the course of their lives. It is during this journey that self-sabotage seems to be the only way to continue, since society, and especially the family, tends to humiliate what, for the homosexual, is nothing more than the acceptance of what is his by right: their own sexuality. It is from this perspective that this project argues that through the sublimation, it is possible that the one who creates a drag character becomes able to elaborate the own feelings and to symbolize them, in the form of a personage with own characteristics, narcissistic but, mainly, artistic. These characters, more and more socially accepted, bring back, in art form, all the pride and satisfaction that were taken from that subject, thus considering the relief of the initial drive.
