Resumo: Bullying is an old practice. However, its designation is recent. The Norwegian Dan Olweus was the precursor of the studies on bullying in the 70’s after observing a high suicide rate among children. It is an act that can cause irreversible damages to social relationships and health. Bullying is in a more common form than we may imagine, for thousands of people are harassed by bullies in various environments: academic, work, and virtual. There is no doubt that bullies bring intense suffering to victims, causing devastating consequences. This work will focus specifically on academic bullying. To extinguish this problem, we first need to identify and understand the actions within bullying to then take action against it. The study was made utilizing bibliographical research on the subject, referencing the authors DR. GUSTAVO TEIXEIRA (2011), ANA BEATRIZ BARBOSA SILVA (2010), DEBORAH CARPENTER E CHRISTOPHER J. FERGUSON (2011), JOEL HARBER (2012) and LÉLIO BRAGA CALHAU (2010). The conclusion reached through the study was that empowering teachers to act in various situations of academic bullying is the only way to address and solve this problem, while training of teachers is also important. Furthermore, observing the behavior of individual students is indispensable; extremely aggressive or extremely shy students should receive special attention

O Norueguês Dan Olweus foi o precursor dos estudos de bullying nos anos 70 após observar um alto índice de suicídio de crianças. É um ato que pode causar danos irreversíveis às relações sociais e na saúde. O bullying ocorre de uma forma mais comum do que imaginamos, milhares de pessoas são perseguidas pelos bullies nos diversos ambientes: escolar, trabalho e virtual. Não há dúvida de que os ataques dos bullies trazem sofrimento intenso à vítima, causando consequências devastadoras. Nesse trabalho irei dar o foco ao bullying escolar. Para extinguir esse problema, primeiramente devemos identificar a ação contida nos atos de bullying para logo tomarmos providências. O estudo foi realizado através de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, sobre o fenômeno do bullying, tendo como referência os autores DR. GUSTAVO TEIXEIRA ( 2011), ANA BEATRIZ BARBOSA SILVA (2010), DEBORAH CARPENTER E CHRISTOPHER J. FERGUSON (2011), JOEL HARBER (2012) e LÉLIO BRAGA CALHAU ( 2010). Foi possível concluir através do estudo que para combater o fenômeno no ambiente escolar, deve-se capacitar a equipe de professores para lidar com situações diversas dentro da sala de aula, sabendo como enfrentar e que comportamentos tomar defronte a uma situação de bulllying, a formação continuada é importante.
