Resumo: This study aims to verify the contribution of an interdisciplinary extension project in the health care of the elderly with dementia syndromes and their families. This is a qualitative research through oral history. Participation in this project is considered by the interviewees as an important promoter of self-care and self-care, favoring the acceptance of the disease, overcoming difficulties and helping in the quality of life and increasing the knowledge of its participants.

Esta es una investigación cualitativa a través de la historia oral. Los entrevistados consideran la participación en este proyecto como un importante promotor del autocuidado y el autocuidado, favoreciendo la aceptación de la enfermedad, superando dificultades y ayudando en la calidad de vida y aumentando el conocimiento de sus paticipantes.O presente estudo busca verificar a contribuição de um projeto de extensão interdisciplinar no cuidado à saúde de idosos com síndromes demenciais e seus familiares. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, por meio da História Oral.
