Resumo: This dissertation aims to carry out a study of amorphous, invisible or non-corporeal elements in horror films. For this, six scenes were chosen for analysis from the movies The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (Robert Eggers, 2015) and Hereditary (Ari Aster, 2018), in order to verify how these examples worked out the elements in question. The corpus’ films were selected according to geographical and temporal proximity, in addition to some parallels in their themes, in the careers of their directors and having a large number of scenes without the figure of the monster that could be selected for analysis of the amorphous. In order to better understand some concepts related to this cinematographic genre, a bibliographic survey was carried out, which seeks to define horror in cinema, understand the figure and role of the monstrous in this type of film and clarify how the amorphous is understood and applied in this research. It was also sought urderstanding the evolution of films with similar themes within horror cinema through a genealogical study. Based on the methodological procedure of image analysis applied to an audiovisual language, it was defined that, in order to understand the amorphous in the selected scenes, it was necessary to study the sound, lighting, photography, colors, planes, framings and elements related to the characters and the plot. The filmic product, in general, is composed of corporeal and non-corporeal elements, and what is amorphous can be understood as one of the parts most responsible for generating the negative feelings characteristic of horror films in the spectator

Para isso, foram escolhidas seis cenas para análise dos filmes A Bruxa (The VVitch: A New-England Folktale, Robert Eggers, 2015) e Hereditário (Hereditary, Ari Aster, 2018), a fim de verificar como esses exemplos trabalharam os elementos em questão. Os filmes do corpus foram selecionados de acordo com proximidade geográfica e temporal, além de alguns paralelos em suas temáticas, na carreira de seus realizadores e de uma grande quantidade de cenas sem a figura do monstro que poderiam ser selecionadas para análise do amorfo. Com a finalidade da melhor compreensão de alguns conceitos relacionados a esse gênero cinematográfico, realizou-se um levantamento bibliográfico, que busca definir o horror no cinema, compreender a figura e o papel do monstruoso nesse tipo de filme e esclarecer como o amorfo é entendido e aplicado na presente pesquisa. Buscou-se também entender a evolução de filmes com temáticas semelhantes dentro do horror no cinema através de um estudo genealógico. Com base no procedimento metodológico da análise de imagem aplicado a uma linguagem audiovisual, definiu-se que, para compreensão do amorfo nas cenas selecionadas, era necessário estudar o som, a iluminação, a fotografia e as cores, os planos e enquadramentos e elementos relativos aos personagens e ao enredo.
