Resumo: The article analyse how the Italian archives were affected during the Second World War, between the allied invasion of the country, in the end of 1942, until the end of the war, in May 1945. Initiatives by Italian professionals and the allied army to stop or diminish archival losses caused by the combats and nazism vandalism were discussed.   Keywords: Second World War; Italy; document preservation.
