Resumo: | In the past decade, the seemingly limitless global development of modern technologies has become an influential characteristic for human interactions and businesses. As a replacement for face-to-face meetings, video streaming has emerged as one of the most commonly used communication systems. This has fuelled the importance of achieving high bandwidth and effective video compression techniques for delivering live streaming and on-demand solutions with high-quality internet to the end user, even when this requires additional complexity to ensure the data is processed and transported efficiently to the client. As advanced technologies enable the integration of live-streaming with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), they can be used in a variety of sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure surveillance and security, virtual travel, and others. It is important to select the most efficient technology for individuals and businesses. Hence, the study of numerous streaming protocols and coder-decoders (CODECs) is an important factor to enhance video transmission quality. The ability to measure the Quality of Service (QoS) through metrics and estimate the Quality of Experience (QoE) of a live-stream will ensure the best experience to the viewer when delivering new and innovative solutions with the use of UAVs. This thesis presents the development and testing of a QoS and QoE monitoring platform for live streaming scenarios involving UAVs. The platform successfully reported metrics in real-time and a live quality control module was developed to automate the bitrate changes from the module to the UAV through QoE estimation. The module was successfully developed, and the current prototype controls the bitrate for one UAV providing a live stream to one end-user maximizing the QoE. |
