Educational strategies used in interventions on violence against the elderly: Integrative review of literature

Resumo: Violence is such a complex process in humanity that educational interventions that address this issue are essential in the search for a safer and fairer society. Main Goal: To analyze how the educational processes on violence against the elderly have been carried out, based on an integrative literature review. Methods: This is an integrative of literature review carried out at the Web of Science, Scopus, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS) and Medical Literature and Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline) databases with the subject descriptors “elderly”, “violence”, “health education” and “young adult”. All English, Portuguese and Spanish languages ??were included, and those for literature review and theoretical reflections were excluded. We identified 1211 articles and after removing the repetitions and following successively the full reading of the titles, abstracts and articles, 12 articles that responded to the purpose of the study were selected. The NVIVO software was used as a tool for qualitative analysis of the results. Results: Different strategies are used to carry out the educational processes, including simulation, didactic classes, use of videos, lectures, online training, learning from professional practice, workshop and case studies, emphasizing the tendency to use more than one strategy. Conclusions: Different educational strategies were used to address violence against the elderly, highlighting those that seek proactivity and effective involvement of students. The selected studies corroborate the importance of working on the subject with young adults, highlighting that the acquisition of knowledge, changes in perception and attitude require specific, complex interventions with successive approximations.

Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura realizada nas bases de dados Web of Science, Scopus, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) e Medical Literature e Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), com os descritores de assunto “idoso”, “violência”, “educação em saúde” e “adulto jovem”. Foram incluídos todos os idiomas inglês, português e espanhol e excluídos os de revisão da literatura e as reflexões teóricas. Foram identificados 1211 artigos; a pós retiradas as repetições e seguindo-se sucessivamente a leitura dos títulos, resumo e artigos na íntegra, foram selecionados 12 artigos que responderam ao propósito do estudo. Utilizou-se como ferramenta de análise qualitativa dos resultados o software NVIVO. Resultados: São utilizadas diferentes estratégias para realizar os processos educativos, incluindo a simulação, aulas didáticas, utilização de vídeos, palestras, treinamento online, aprendizagem a partir da prática profissional, oficina de trabalho e estudos de casos. ressaltando-se a tendência de utilizar mais de uma estrátegia. Conclusões: Diferentes estratégias educacionais foram utilizadas na abordagem da violência contra a pessoa idosa, destancando-se aquelas que buscam a proatividade e envolvimento efetivo dos educandos.
