Para a produção do mesmo foram seguidas as orientações do CFA Institute Research Challenge, sendo que as informações recolhidas para a elaboração do mesmo são exclusivamente de origem pública até à data de 15-01- 2021. Este relatório foi premiado com o segundo lugar a nível nacional. Para a produção deste TFM foi elaborado um capítulo extra que explora como os padrões de consumo impostos pela pandemia de Covid-19 podem redesenhar o mercado de retalho em Portugal. Neste campo vamos analisar quais os impactos que uma possível aquisição do DIA por parte do Auchan Retail Group terá na SON. A SON é um conglomerado português com presença global, através das oito unidades de negócio que o constituem, distríbuidas pelas seguintes indústrias: retalho, imobiliário, serviços financeiros, telecomunicações e gestão de investimentos. A empresa foi avaliada recorrendo ao método da soma das partes, sendo que as empresas de maior dimensão foram valorizadas recorrendo ao FCFF – DCF. Para as empresas de menores dimensões recorreu-se à utilização do método de análise relativa. No final, o preço-alvo foi de €1.25/ação o que representa um potencial de crescimento de 75% quando comparado com o preço da ação (€0.71) no dia 14 de janeiro de 2021. A par desta análise foram ainda realizados métodos de valorização adicionais tais como o FCFF – DDM, APV e múltiplos, que corroboraram o valor atingido.In an early beginning, this report has been developed as an Equity Research on Sonae SGPS, SA (SON). This report follows the standard rules of the CFA Institute Research Challenge and for its production we have gathered public information up to January 15th. This document has been awarded with the 2nd place Portugal level. This report also includes an additional chapter aimed to explore how the Covid-19 pandemic tailored the consumption habits of the Portuguese population. In particular, it is assessed whether changing consumption habits might trigger an acquisition of Dia by Auchan Retail Group Portugal. The consequences on SON from such a scenario are also analysed. SON is a Portuguese conglomerate that is present around the globe through its eight business units operating in five different industries: retail, telecommunications, real estate, financial services, and investment management. The company was valued through a sum-of-the-parts approach, using mostly a discounted cash flow approach per business unit. All in all, we ended up with a final SON’s price target of €1.25/sh, which implies a buy recommendation with an upside potential of 75% from the January 14th closing price of 71 cents, with a medium to low risk.
