The first thematic frame of this research is composed by the exploitation of the reaction of architecture before concepts such as chaos, disorder, ambiguity and mutability. However, the term here adopted is indeterminacy, corresponding to worldly situations, events and experiences - which are in the intervals of a direct interpretation of a given architectural program - which are presented as unstable and unavailable for an architect. The objective of the work will pass by the recognition of that indeterminacy as a way of doing architecture, a methodology that tries to release of any rigidity in the appropriation of space, open to complexities and uncertainties of a time that doesn't progress linearly. The study cases selected are composed by the design strategies of Lacaton & Vassal and Rem Koolhaas, to which we add two terminologies that are normally observed in debates focusing this theme: potential and performance. The study cases are also defined by programmatic approaches and approaches that prime the operability of its reflections in the designing response, without, however, over restricting ourselves to it but recognizing the volatile nature and fragmented aspects of the program in a complex and indeterminate reality. This active and interventionist character in the current context, will also make us to focus on the work in the present time, without pretending any historical break, since it is in the past that we can find the tools for the present. Finaly, we aspire to strengthen the complementarity of potential and performance concepts, supported by the study cases. Being a reflective work, aware of the comprehensive theme that explores, we propose that such deductions will be seen as catalysts of new debates.
