Resumo: | Sitting volleyball is a recent and not very implemented sport discipline in Portugal, although it is widespread internationally. Nevertheless, there is little literature on the subject and is mostly focused on the relationships between performance and the variables related specifically to sitting volleyball, the effects of some techniques in the development of skills and gestures, and game analysis. However, no studies exist that analyse and present a didactic structure for the teaching and training approach of sitting volleyball. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the effectiveness of an intervention programme for improving sitting volleyball athlete's performance. In particular, variables analysed were: decision making, adjustment, effectiveness and efficiency of the athletes in a real teaching-learning moment. Moreover, the programme included the definition and action taking of learning tasks and teaching strategies adjusted to each athletes' needs. The sample consisted of 7 disabled athletes practicing sitting volleyball. The intervention program was carried out over 4 months, corresponding to 26 training sessions. Participants, in an initial phase, were observed in a game situation and evaluated through the Game Performance Assessment Instrument. Based on the results obtained in the diagnostic evaluation, the Step-Game-Approach Model was applied. The results showed significant improvements in the performance of the athletes in game situation and in the following variables: efficiency, decision making, adjustment and effectiveness. In the light of this results, we can say that the use of the Step-Game-Approach Model seems to be a good strategy for improving the skills inherent to the seated volleyball game. |
