Resumo: | The development of a project of a spiritual matter is presented, in this investigation, as the central object of the study. The consolidation of a memorial project, inserted in Monte de Sta Luzia, in Viseu, aims to respond, critically, to a reflection on what is the space dedicated to the perpetuation of memory. When we think about the way we worship our ancestors nowadays, in the Western context, it is considered that there are few spaces where we can do so, comfortably, and surrounded by a pleasant atmosphere. Among the ground-level graves, small tombstones that mark the place of someone's burial , and the tombs, constructions where the bodies are buried; it doesn't seem to take into account the presence of those who stay and try to use this place as a space of recollection and memory. It is about this silent and solitary space that leads to introspection and remembrance, that we try to encourage, through architecture, to reflect. Our final synthesis of the investigation is supported, throught the materialization of the proposal for the memorial. In a first part dedicated to the historical analysis of the evolution of sepulchral spaces. This research through history led the investigation to the study of the deposit space which, in turn, promoted an integration in the Viseense cemetery field. It was through a project rehearsal of a tomb in the cemetery of Santiago that we came across incompatibilities between this context and the spiritual space that we are trying to propose. Above the concretization of an architectural proposal that responds to a buildable idea, it is fundamentally assumed that this investigation will be able to serve as a basis for future reflections, instigating a continued evolution of thinking about spaces of a memorial nature. |
