O Early Warning System of School Failure – SAPIE: Presentation of a digital system supporting inclusive education

Resumo: According to the new legislation on inclusive education, the policies to fight school failure and dropout must essentially be centered in preventive work, scientifically grounded, early implemented and empirically validated by efficient warning, monitoring and impact evaluation systems. With this goal in mind, an early warning system for school failure is developed, the EWS-SF, an innovative tool to fight school failure that flag students at risk of school failure and early dropout, monitors the students´ progress in risk indicators and examines the over-time impact of inclusive intervention. This paper presents the SAPIE, describing its scientific anchorage within the research carried out within the scope of risk models and describes its development and implementation procedures, with reference to its objectives, functionalities and expected results. The SAPIE presentation is reached via bibliographic research using databases, reports, legislation and other resources. The SAPIE´s advantages and limitations are discussed, and its predictive robustness and relevance for research is underlined, within the framework of inclusive education politic in the alignment with projects of autonomy and curriculum flexibility.

Com este objetivo em mente, desenvolveu-se o Sistema de Alerta Precoce para o Insucesso Escolar – SAPIE, uma ferramenta inovadora de combate ao insucesso escolar que identifica o risco de retenção ou abandono escolar precoce, monitoriza o progresso dos alunos nos indicadores de risco e analisa o impacto da intervenção inclusiva ao longo do tempo. Neste artigo, apresenta-se o SAPIE, descrevendo a sua ancoragem científica no seio da investigação realizada no âmbito dos modelos de risco, especificando o seu desenvolvimento e procedimento de implementação, com referência aos seus objetivos, funcionalidades e os resultados esperados. Esta apresentação é feita com base na consulta de bibliografias disponíveis em diversas fontes (base de dados, relatórios, decretos lei, entre outros).
