Quantification of phenolic compounds in Melilotus indicus and Pterospartum tridentatum

Resumo: Melilotus indicus and Pterospartum tridentatum are two plants with high contente of phenolic compounds. The objectives of this study are to compile the published methods for the determination of phenolic compouns in the plants under study, and the validation of a method for the determination of these compounds in extract of them. A classical review was carried out in three databases of studies published since 2000 for te determination of phenoloc compounds in the plants interest. The validation of a method for the analysis of these compounds by high performance liquid chromatography comtemplated parameters suh as linearity, precision, accuracy, limits of detection and qualification, followed by a prelimunary analysis in extracts. The literature reports the analysis of twenty-eight to twenty-nine compounds, respectively in M. indicus and P. tridentatum extracts. Calibration curves were stipulated for hesperidin, caffeic and chlorogenic acids, with quantification limits below 2.98 µg.mL-1. The precision showed values below 15% and the accuracy ranged between 90 and 114%. A preliminar analysis quantifed rutin, chlorogenic and caffeic acids, and identified rutin, quercetin-3-glucoside, hesperidin, gallic, chlorogenic and caffeic acids, in M. indicus extracts, and quantified rutin, hesperidin,gallic and chlorogenic acids, in P. tridentatum extracts.
