Resumo: | To speak of health is to include the environment where we move and the living beings with which we share it. Accordingly, communicating health is also valuing the cultural and scientific patrimony present in different scientific museological collections, which offers several opportunities to discuss the construction of scientific knowledge and its connection to communities. Here we present an exhibition that brought together objects from zoology, botany and anthropology collections to illustrate this dialogue between science and society and create spaces to reflect on the co-construction of knowledge. For example, the objects fostered the research, dissemination and discussion of how the so-called indigenous knowledge about the medicinal properties of some plants and animals has been validated by pharmaceutical, biomedical and cosmetics research, enabling the development of new pharmacological drugs. In addition, ethnographic studies of natural resources used in traditional medicine provide important information for the planning of management plans and conservation of biodiversity. Consequently, the museum objects found echoes in different scientific areas and in some targets of the Sustainable Development Goals. |

Health, environment and the promotion of sustainable development: contributions from the museological patrimony of scienceSaúde, ambiente e a promoção do desenvolvimento sustentável: contribuições a partir do património museológico de ciênciaTo speak of health is to include the environment where we move and the living beings with which we share it. In addition, ethnographic studies of natural resources used in traditional medicine provide important information for the planning of management plans and conservation of biodiversity. Consequently, the museum objects found echoes in different scientific areas and in some targets of the Sustainable Development Goals.
