Resumo: | This document was prepared in the context of the School Placement, inserted in the 2nd year of the Master in Teaching of Physical Education in Primary and Secondary Education of the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto. The year of the practicum training has its main objective to prepare the preservice teacher for what will be his professional life, placing him in a real context of teaching Physical Education subject at a school. During that time, the preservice teacher is supervised by two Professors experts in the area, the Supervisor and the Cooperating teacher. The school placement took place in the 2020/2021 school year at a Basic and Secondary School, in Espinho. The preservice teacher followed, throughout the school year, an 11th-grade class and two others of the 1st and 2nd year of the Basic Education Cycle (4th and 6th grade, respectively). This document reports the experiences of the author lived during this school placement year, using a reflective speech to elucidate the readers about his path. The author's biggest challenge was to be able to develop the ability to deal with students, taking into account that they are all different and adopting the best strategy to getting them motivated. It also addresses teaching in times of a pandemic, namely the adaptations that had to be made and the Distance Learning. This situation was new to all, thus being necessary, throughout the school year, to adapt every class moment so that the required safety rules complied and the possible points of contamination of the virus were minimized. The correlation of the students' level with the number of hours of sleep was a focal point of this document, as well as their evolution in Physical Education during a year of pandemic. The results indicated that it was not possible to verify a correlation between the hours of sleep of students and their test results. Furthermore, there were only relevant improvements from the first to the second moment in the 40m sprint. |
