Writing teaching and assessment in Basic Education (2nd cycle) in Sao Tome and Principe – Framework for a training workshop

To improve the education system and to enable your teachers, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Communication of Sao Tome and Principe (STP) has designed the Program. Acelerar o Desempenho Educativo (PADE 2015-2018), having set to strategic axes, among others, the improvement of the system of evaluation, as well as the teacher professionalization.We highlight the measure to empower and train teachers of the various levels of education, for revealing the awareness of the vocational training of teacher’s importance, in a context which presents a high rate of teachers without professional qualification for teaching.Portugal has been a strategic partner in the framework of development cooperation with STP and the country has been benefiting from various actions in education. Within the framework of a doctoral research in progress, focusing on construction of knowledge about the writing teaching and assessment process, in continuous training of Portuguese Language (PL) teachers of 2nd cycle of basic education (CBE), in Sao Tome (ST), with this article we will: i) to present ananalyses of the official programme of basic education of STP, with regard to the discipline of PL; ii) characterize the profile of PL teachers of the 2nd CBE, of ST, based on the results of a questionnaire; iii) to present the guidelines of a training workshop, from training needs which were identified.
