Consumers play a vital role in promoting sustainable consumption patterns that address current needs while mitigating resource scarcity. Guided by the resource scarcity theory, this research focused specifically on the perception of water scarcity, aiming to understand how perceived efficacy in sustainable cues, shaped by an underlying emotional mindset of fear or hope, could influence individuals to modify their consumption and usage habits. Results from one experimental study (N = 218) demonstrate that exposure to sustainable cues leads to higher eco-friendly responses through an increase in perceived efficacy mainly due to high perceptions of response efficacy, and that this effect is particularly pronounced for individuals with an interdependent self-concept. These findings reveal that perceived efficacy plays a crucial role in driving sustainable behavior, and that among various types of perceived efficacy, response efficacy has been found to be the most effective in promoting sustainable action, particularly among individuals who are concerned with their interpersonal relationships and the impact they can have on their social group. Delivering a significant contribution to comprehending the impact of various emotional mindsets on promoting different sustainable behaviors, the study offers companies crucial insights for creating effective sustainability campaigns.Pinto, Diego CostaRUNCarmo, Mariana Oliveira do2023-04-28T14:51:19Z2023-04-122023-04-12T00:00:00Zinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisapplication/pdfhttp://hdl.handle.net/10362/152228TID:203272382enginfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Científico de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (Repositórios Cientìficos)instname:Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento (UMIC) - FCT - Sociedade da Informaçãoinstacron:RCAAP2024-03-11T05:34:35Zoai:run.unl.pt:10362/152228Portal AgregadorONGhttps://www.rcaap.pt/oai/openaireopendoar:71602024-03-20T03:54:50.728969Repositório Científico de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (Repositórios Cientìficos) - Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento (UMIC) - FCT - Sociedade da Informaçãofalse
