O espaço público como palco cénico. Estratégias para um bairro paulistano: o Brás

Resumo: | The present thesis came from a personal perspective, related to the immigrant presence and the obsolescence of some spaces in the Brás neighborhood in São Paulo, facing the urban, social and temporal relations observed. Immigration and the processes it contemplates are an essential part of both the formation of the neighbourhood and its daily reality, filling it with diversity. The evidences of multiculturality provided by the reception of these migratory movements, even if little exposed in the physical components of Brás, are extremely linked to informal work and the street trade which is one of the commercial activities in that the immigrant presence is more explicit. Thus, the diversity that the neighborhood carries in terms of multiculturalism becomes poorly explored in uses and occupations that do not derive from commercial activity. The idea of a scenic stage is not applied to this work in an isolated way: the city and its public spaces are understood as spaces of representation of human life. Contrary to what the theatrical perspective generally suggests, the encounters on the stage considered in the present thesis are not scripted and are part of a triad: "public space"-"unscheduled occupations"-"ephemerality". The scenographic space, however, composed by the articulation of architectural and social elements, as well as the empness of the spaces and the insertion of scenic devices, is explored in continuity with the narrative of the neighborhood. After referred the concept of public space as a scenic stage, it is suggested that Brás be analyzed under a thorough look in which the performance of public spaces as spaces of interactional spaces is reflected in an integral way in the social relations established there and in the city as a whole. In this way, it is possible to decipher the area in a less static way, while understanding and accepting its flows and movements. Not seeking to manipulate actions or control the urban life. Therefore, it is the abstraction of the concept so that it can subsequently contribute to the elaboration of a plan that seeks better relations and occupations, as well as the creation of more pleasant spaces for public life and the establishment of relations of belong among users. Thus, the thesis proposes an exercise of reflection and criticism about the problems that influence the migratory processes and its implications in the occupation of the territory against the cenographic reality of Brás. In a game of articulation between the preexistence of architectural components and the use of cenographic occupation as a design tool, an occupation strategy is elaborated. In accordance with the social, temporal and structural dynamics of the area, makes emerging in an even more emphatic way the diversity present in the neighbourhood. Brás then becomes a laboratory for the application of a strategic that transits between practical and tactical issues and selects six areas that, when integrating a system of strategic zones, enable socialization conditions among the users. Through activations of these spaces at specific times, based on actions related to food, sports, the need for convergence between people and spaces, the inclusion of green elements, among others. However, the exercise, proposes an experimental of new ways to occupy Brás ' spaces and does not cease with the conclusion of the present work. It seeks to enunciate an idea that, in a preliminary and strategic way, can be integrated into larger proposals, as well as to other institutions that promote and manage the organization of the neighborhood in terms of occupations. |
