Resumo: This article studies the knowledge of students, prospective primary school teachers, about incompatible, complementary and independent events. Participated in the study 31 students of the Degree in Basic Education of a university in the North of Portugal, who were proposed to solve a task with three items, each related to a type of events. In terms of results, we highlight the great difficulties exhibited by students in defining the different types of events, most accentuated in the case of complementary and independent events, which are explained, above all, because it is about defining events of a compound random experience.

Participaron en el estudio 31 estudiantes del Grado en Educación Básica de una universidad en el Norte de Portugal, a quienes propusieron resolver una tarea con tres ítems, cada uno relacionado con un tipo de sucesos. En términos de resultados, destacamos las grandes dificultades exhibidas por los estudiantes para definir los diferentes tipos de sucesos, más acentuados en el caso de sucesos complementarios e independientes, que se explican, sobre todo, porque se trata de definir sucesos de una experiencia aleatoria compuesta. Neste artigo estuda-se o conhecimento de estudantes, futuros professores dos primeiros anos, acerca de acontecimentos incompatíveis, complementares e independentes. Participaram no estudo 31 estudantes da Licenciatura em Educação Básica de uma universidade do Norte de Portugal, a quem foi proposto que resolvessem uma tarefa com três itens, cada um relativo a um tipo de acontecimentos.
