Resumo: | This project reflects on the study and development of an Illustrated Guide on Fairies. Guides on butterflies were inspired, in which you can see an illustration of the species, its respective technical sheet and a map to guide the observer with its location. As the objective of the work was to focus more on Concept Art and Character Design, it was decided to make ten final illustrations of different fairy species. To determine the final appearance of each fairy, several studies were carried out, including notes, clothing sketches, hairstyles, silhouettes, facial expressions (incorporated into a modelsheet), ideas for the appearance of wings, wands, etc. A universe was thought of in which all the worked species could be included, assigning each one a function, and a map was developed to be able to insert them in a single environment. Designs were made for the following species created by the author: the Fairy Healer, the Night Fairy, the Leaf Fairy, the Butterfly Fairy, the Corrupted Fairy , the Mushroom Fairy, the Crystal Fairy, the Firefly Fairy, the Rainbow Fairy and, finally, the Purity Fairy. It is to be observed that, as the illustrations develop, the fairies go from a more classic look to a more modern look. This is due to the purpose of this work, to explore and understand how the design of fairies has evolved over time. A theoretical part was also carried out, where illustrated guides on fairies by various authors are addressed, which were taken as an example, as well as a brief explanation of what character design is, and the analysis of how fairies have evolved over time in art. |
