O Palheiro no Calvário. Entre a memória e o presente

Resumo: This is the memory of one project. A housing project that seeks the clarification of what were considered the most important themes through out the course of the academic years. This is one last experimental moment, and the elucidation of a methodology that can follow the author during his professional path. The project investigates and enjoys the relationship between theory and practice in architecture. For this reason, the dissertation is organized in two main moments. First, the presentation of the project through rigorous representations, which shall also present some of the most important themes in the project. One of the great themes of the project is the discussion between the old and the new, as well as the value of memory and notalgia when adapting the existing object to new uses. Thus, it is also in this first part that drawings of the existing object are presented, for a better understanding of the project's approach. In a second part, written memories are shared on the themes that followed the design process. In this moment, the texts reflect moments of uncertainty, choice's process, along with the description of other projects that worked as inspirations for the current project. This second part is accompanied by images, for a better understanding of the memories. These two parts describe the project process in addition to the methodology, and provide a better understanding of the project's final result. The parts complement each other, as do the theoretical and practical discourse in architecture, and so should be read as dependent parts. Finally, in the appendix, there are some images that characterize the working tools used throughout the work: the photographs of the site for a better understanding of the social context; as well as sketches, and models that helped to understand and develop the project. In addition, rigorous drawings are added in this appendix volume of stages prior to the final result, as well as additional drawings of details of the final project.
