Experimental methodology to quantify candida albicans cell surface hydrophobicity

Resumo: A new method of formation of yeast cell lawns for contact angle measurement (with water, formamide and 1-bromonaphthalene) is described. The cell lawns were formed on agar layers avoiding liquid penetration. The method was validated by comparing the hydrophobicity of Candida albicans grown at different temperatures and the hydrophobicity of bacterial cell lawns built on agar layers and obtained by the usual filtration method.
