Por razões pragmáticas, limitámos o nosso recorte ao ciclo troiano e à tragédia grega da Antiguidade clássica, focando-nos nas figuras femininas de Clitemnestra e de Hécuba em algumas tragédias, para nos concentrarmos na perspectiva da vitimização das mulheres como resultado da conexão entre conflitos militares, exibição do poderio masculino e convencional impotência feminina em sociedades patriarcais e antropocêntricas.Apoiando-nos sobremodo nas pesquisas de Kathy Gaca sobre a posição da mulher como vítima de guerra, procurámos mostrar diversos tipos de agressões decorrentes de confrontos armados, olhando para a guerra menos sob o ponto de vista das batalhas travadas, das estratégias utilizadas, dos heróis destacados, do que através das motivações dos guerreiros em termos de recompensas, em particular, a de subjugar e explorar as vencidas, numa demonstração de poderio e superioridade masculinos, ou também a de adquirir ou conservar o prestígio público perante o exército, ainda que em detrimento da valorização das relações familiares.No segundo momento da pesquisa, fixámo-nos nas figuras femininas selecionadas, ora considerando o impacto dos confrontos numa rainha associada aos vencedores da guerra, uma posição que, porém, não evitou que ela sofresse; ora numa outra, antiga soberana do povo vencido, convertida em cativa dos conquistadores e dolorosamente constrangida a deixar as suas origens .
