Resumo: Genesis 2,15 tells us about a garden as a work of God which becomes the common space where human beings will dwell and grow while cultivating and caring for it. I assume that the term garden already signifies the framework providing the conditions necessary for the flourishing not only of man but also of all other creatures. Yet how can one understand the truth of this story with regard to the current conditions of a world which is in the process of being radically transformed by the technical and economic exploits of contemporary societies? In addition, the accelerated ecological destruction of the favorable conditions for life which are typical of the Holocene has led to the firm belief in the urgency of getting rid of the concept of nature and emphasizing that we can shape the world at will. I aim to re-read the Anthropocene’s discourse in the light of Genesis 2,15 as the new human and planetary reality increases the meaning of these tasks proposed by the creation story, namely, those of cultivating it and keep it.

Procuro reler o discurso do Antropoceno à luz de Gênesis 2,15, pois a nova realidade humana e planetária favorece o sentido dessas tarefas propostas pela história da criação, a saber, cultivá-la e conservá-la.Universidade Católica Portuguesa2022-05-04T00:00:00Zjournal articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.34632/ephata.2022.10351oai:ojs.revistas.ucp.pt:article/10351Ephata; Vol 4 No 1 (2022): On the subject of the “common home” in integral ecology.
