Resumo: | This paper presents digital storytelling (DST) practice in an elementary Japanese A1.2 class. First, I will describe the current situation and issues of Japanese language teaching in Portugal and at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, followed by the background to the implementation of digital storytelling. Next, I discuss previous research on digital storytelling in university language teaching and examine whether the digital storytelling implemented has the same pedagogical effects as these previous studies. I asked students to create individual and group videos and discuss the differences in their approaches and the expected outcomes. I will also report on satisfaction with the learning process based on a questionnaire using the ARCS motivational model. Finally, I discuss the effects of the active use of online translation applications in creating videos. |
