Resumo: Classic cars have gained a world heritage status. Their authenticity and market value depend on corresponding preservation and restoration processes meeting the requirements expressed by institutional regulators such as FIVA’s Charter of Turin. The subsystem proposed in this dissertation is part of a system to facilitate the documentation of classic cars restoration and preservation processes required for certification and market transactions transparency. It integrates a customer relationship management component, a workflow engine that executes a BPMN/DMN process model matching Charter of Turin requirements, and remotely-controlled IP cameras to facilitate videoconferencing with classic car owners during the restoration and/or preservation processes. Additionally, it incorporates a new innovative interface for the communication with the workflow engine, by interacting directly with the BPMN diagrams. Plant shop floor events caught by another subsystem are fed into the component that communicates with the workflow engine to act as evidence to reduce the interactions performed by the plant shop floor manager. The latter uses the process model as a GUI, acting as an interactive synoptic panel. The developed prototype laid the foundations for a digital transformation, allowing a more efficient, precise, and sustainable relationship with classic car owners and certification bodies.
