Plano Urbano em Aveiro: Da Identidade e História à (de)Composição do Projeto

The present work has its origin in a restlessness towards the current state of the city of Aveiro, which despite the many rehabilitation and requalification initiatives on its urban space, seem to deconstruct a cohesive perception of the city. In an urban reality that demonstrates various deficiencies in its sociocultural fields, it is proposed to reflect on the design of a plan focused on cultural and housing investment, and on the requalification of the city's heritrage spaces, such as the lagoon and its canals. A strategy is structured in order to compreend and identify the most characteristic contemporary Aveiro's urban aspects, aiming the reinforcement of those in city's space, or the creation of new ones. As well as the historical factors that shaped the city and deserve to be redignified. Therefore, through a specific object of study and a motivation of interventional character, representative of the architect's role, an opportunity for the elaboration of a critical study that formulates a possible urban planning solution is created. A solution that aims to requalify disregarded spaces along the canals. Based on this intervention, this work will be concluded with a critical reflection confronting it with previous city planning moments, as well as with the perspective of its implementation and consequences for the territory in question.
