Resumo: | The present dissertation aims to explore the relationship between domestic and public space, namely in terms of multi-family housing. It matters in that sense to understand how the transition compromises, as a ritual of mental and physical transference, the definition of project strategies. To do so, we will address the transition spaces, instruments of passage between the public and private domains, as intermediate devices of the proposed dialogue. An internship in Switzerland allows establishing an approach to housing design, based on the correlation between the project configuration and its circumstance, according to different levels of confrontation. The transmission of the dynamics involved in the project production in a professional environment aims to contextualize the design decisions and the subsequent awareness of a personal experience. In fact, this presence in the process of project development provides an authenticity to the analysis, elucidating the authorial thinking that justified the respective decision-making. Finally, we resort to projects built during the internship experience, which constitute practical applications of the inclusion of transitional spaces, here suggested as enhancers of a more complete understanding of the concept of 'threshold' and the corresponding adjustment to the intervention scale. This intends to check the possibility and pertinence of a state of closer match between construction and its surrounding, in order to articulate the intimate nature of housing with the public exposure. In that sense, the case studies reveal the intention of reconciling, by effectively distancing, contradictory purposes such as the concomitant need for man to relate with himself and with others. |
