The intention is to try to understand the spaces generated by the housing and its intrinsic relationship with the city's growth. It is on this basis that is intended to understand the contribution of CH in the quality of urban life and public spaces generated by these in our city. It is chosen a sector of the city which will focus on, namely, in the Avenida of Boavista, which functioned as a hub for development of the city of Porto in relation to sunset. This will act as anchor point of the entire dissertation and where are the cases analyzed. These cases will serve to a better understanding of the influence of housing growth in the city. The objective is to understand the use and production of public spaces as a building materiality, understanding the housing as an integrated structure of the city and urban life from them. Thus will make a short approach to the growth of the city, in the season of Almadas to the present. Thus, it is required to understand the evolution of the same and yet see the influence of various interventions in relation to the implementation of case studies and the forms taken by them. Finally this dissertation is intended to establish a relationship between the growth of the urban city and the CH, and see how the public spaces created by these will be reflected in the growth of urban life or extinction of the same in certain sets.
