Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multi-system, chronic, progressive disease, of unknown aetiology. It has a high associated morbidity.Diagnosis is based on clinical and laboratory criteriaand can be difficult in the early phases, in oligo-symptomatic disease and when therapeuticinterventions influence the clinical and analytic manifestations of the disease.Regarding patients followed in the Vila Nova deGaia Hospital Centre (C.H.V.N.G.), the authors madea retrospective analysis of clinic processes ofpatients with the diagnosis of SLE, with the aim ofdetermining the prevalence of the principal clinicaland laboratorial features in our population, according to the current A.C.R. criteria.
