O primeiro objetivo deste estudo foi explorar as diferenças de grupos em relação à alimentação inflexível, aos comportamentos ortoréticos, às diferentes dimensões da psicopatologia alimentar (restrição, preocupação alimentar, preocupação com o peso e preocupação com a forma) e à psicopatologia geral (sintomas de ansiedade e depressão), considerando três grupos: não atletas, atletas de CrossFit e atletas de outras modalidades. Foi também testado o papel mediador dos comportamentos ortoréticos na relação entre a adoção de alimentação inflexível e a gravidade da psicopatologia alimentar e geral. Por fim, a invariância entre os três grupos foi examinada.A amostra do estudo incluiu 346 mulheres, que completaram as seguintes medidas de autorrelato: Inflexible Eating Questionnaire (IEQ), Düsseldorf Orthorexie Scale (DOS-P), Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q), e Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4). Os resultados sugeriram que os atletas de CrossFit apresentaram níveis mais elevados de alimentação inflexível, comportamentos ortoréticos e restrição. As análises de path demonstraram o papel mediador dos comportamentos ortoréticos na ligação entre alimentação inflexível e psicopatologia alimentar e geral. O modelo foi invariante entre os três grupos. Os resultados sugerem o desenvolvimento gradual de comportamentos ortoréticos em psicopatologia alimentar e destacam os atletas, especialmente os atletas de CrossFit, como um grupo de risco para o desenvolvimento de comportamentos ortoréticos. The first aim of this study was to explore group differences regarding inflexible eating, orthorexic behaviors, different dimensions of eating psychopathology (restraint, eating concern, weight concern, and shape concern), and general psychopathology (anxiety and depression symptoms), considering three groups: non-athletes, CrossFit athletes, and other sports athletes. It was also tested the mediating role of orthorexic behaviors in the relationship between the adoption of inflexible eating and eating and general psychopathology severity. Finally, the invariance across the three groups was examined.The study sample comprised 346 women, who completed the following self-report measures: Inflexible Eating Questionnaire (IEQ), Düsseldorf Orthorexie Scale (DOS-P), Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q), and Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4). Results suggested that CrossFit athletes presented higher levels of inflexible eating, orthorexic behaviors, and restraint. Path analyses demonstrated the mediating role of orthorexic behaviors in the link between inflexible eating and eating and general psychopathology. The model was invariant across the three groups. Findings suggest the gradual development of orthorexic behaviors into eating psychopathology, and highlight athletes, especially CrossFit athletes, as an at-risk group for the development of orthorexic behaviors.
