Memórias da Água e de um Lugar entre Goujoim e a Ribeira do Tedo: Transformações na Quinta da Dona Moura

This dissertation arises from a close relationship of experience and proximity with the Douro landscapes and, inherently, their architectures. This way, the object selected as a starting point, the Quinta da D. Moura, inserted along the slopes of the Tedo river valley, was the proposed motto for an approach to these realities that are fading with time. A possible intervention is proposed, with the intention of revitalizing landscape and territorial dynamics (with the river and neighboring villages) that have been noticed with more vehemence within the property. Starting from a very strong connection with the environment, the proposed analysis develops in a constant search for the premises that relate to the direct context of the farm, but also recovering strengths visible on a broader scale of the territory. Doing this, the object of study was not felt as a frontier for the proposed analysis, but rather as an incentive to a more consequent observation of the villages of Goujoim and Lugar da Ribeira do Tedo. In accordance with the strategy that is being delimited, the ruin assumes itself as the starting point for the project, being its exploitation directed to the constructive aspects and background that it holds. In this regard, this is an element that marks the passage of time, adopting a differentiating element into the context in which it is inserted, and also acting like a memory revival piece of the spaces and environments around it. It is, however, also a front which becomes necessary to deal with and which has encouraged parallel analyses of reference projects, inserting its conception developed according to several practical notions, from its rehabilitation, expansion or even complete preservation. This way, despite the intervention proposing a new dynamic logic within the project's terrain, it seeks to reinforce moments that have been identified in its actual condition. It essentially preserves a notion of heritage, not only about what was built, but of the collective memory and of distinct quality, such as those of Água do Tedo.
