Defensives: technological reflections through a CTS approach

Resumo: The growing concern about the quality of life and the future draws the attention of teachers to the great responsibility on the social function of teaching and education. The school, in turn, has the great task of highlighting the values of society and promoting the student’s conditions to contribute more consciously and more critically to the techno-scientific events. The present study aims to present and evaluate the comparative results of a survey conducted among students from three municipal schools in the state of Rio de Janeiro, with students from the 9th grade of the municipal network and students from the first high school of the state and private, totaling 68 students interviewed. The methodology used was the use of the controlled controversy technique, addressing as the central topic of discussion the use of Agricultural and Natural Defensives, since this region is known as a major producer of vegetables and vegetables supplying several cities of the State. The questions used were taken from the Science, Technology and Society (COCTS) Opinion Questionnaire of the Ibero-American Science, Technology and Society-Related Assessment Project (PIEARCTS) and correspond to questions 40211, 40531 and 80131, whose focus are the decisions that guide discoveries and uses of Science and Technology for social welfare. As a result, it was possible to perceive that there is a difference of positioning in front of the subject addressed between public and private school students.Keywords: CTS, PIEARCTS, Basic Education, Agricultural Defenses; Social welfare.

La escuela, a su vez, tiene la gran función en evidenciar los valores de la sociedad y promover al estudiante condiciones para contribuir de forma más consciente y más crítica frente a los acontecimientos tecnocientíficos. El presente trabajo tiene como finalidad presentar y evaluar los resultados comparativos de una encuesta realizada entre alumnos de tres escuelas de municipio del estado de Río de Janeiro, con alumnos del 9º año de la red municipal y alumnos de la primera serie de la enseñanza media de las redes estatales y privada, totalizando así, 68 alumnos entrevistados. La metodología utilizada fue el uso de la técnica de controversia controlada abordando como tema central de discusión el uso de Defensivos Agrícolas y Naturales, una vez que esa región es conocida como gran productora de verduras y legumbres abastecendo varias ciudades del Estado. Las cuestiones utilizadas fueron retiradas del Cuestionario de Opiniones sobre Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad (COCTS) del Proyecto Iberoamericano de Evaluación de Actitudes Relacionadas con la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Sociedad (PIEARCTS) y corresponden a las preguntas 40211, 40531 y 80131, cuyo foco son las decisiones que orientan descubrimientos y usos de la Ciencia y la Tecnología para un bienestar social. Como resultado fue posible percibir que hay una diferencia de posicionamientos frente al tema abordado entre los alumnos de escuela pública y privada.A crescente preocupação pela qualidade de vida e pelo futuro chama a atenção de professores para a grande responsabilidade sobre a função social do ensino e da educação.
