The Open Laboratory of Science Education (LEduC) is an unit of the Research Centre “Didactics and Technology in Education of Trainers” of the University of Aveiro with a team of teachers and researchers that, among other purposes, seeks to develop strategies and materials to teach and learn sciences in the first years of school. One of its research lines led to the development of the project Science Garden (“Jardim da Ciência” – JC) that includes the promotion of activities with kindergarten and primary school children in a non-formal education space in the Department of Education of the University of Aveiro. In the year of 2012, two research technicians integrated the teams of LEduC and JC, one with a grant under the Strategic Project of the research centre (CIDTFF), the other with a grant to work in the project “Potentiate the Science Garden”. In this paper, the two research technicians seek to report and discuss the activities developed in these two units of the research centre CIDTFF, specifying some activities planned and implemented as part of their work plans. This discussion serves as a motto to make some suggestions for future work that may meet the objectives proposed for the activities of research, education and training of both LEduC and JC.
