Resumo: This presentation is part of a study that sought to understand how 6th grade students solve visual patterning tasks. It explores some results from four case studies to illustrate generalization strategies privileged by students and difficulties emerging from their work. Another goal is to reflect on the role of visualization in their reasoning and on some factors that may influence the choice of generalization strategies in such contexts.
