Resumo: | This dissertation assumes the title, Communication in Portuguese Museums in the 21st century and makes room for reflection and discussion of new ways for the museum to fulfil its mission over the centuries. The museum is a part of society's life. From a very early age, its educational character helps to develop a collective conscience. In this sense, the population in the 21st century seems to need the construction of this collective consciousness. Now the museum faces a barrier that has grown with the development of society, the digital one. Digital was seen by many as the end of the physical museum. Thereat the adhesion to new technologies, social projects, like the virtual museum or the various digital tools, such as social media, were always refused. However, we will analyze the several transformations that the development of society and the digital had in the museum, starting with the definition of a museum, and ending with the parsing of several museums and their current use of digital tools. In this dissertation, we reflect on what the virtual museum could be, and what advantages and disadvantages exist for the museum as a cultural institution. We analyze diverse components that may become part of education on this topic, such as digital curation and the inclusion of tools such as Blockchain and NFTs, which proved to be relevant for the virtual museum. |
