STS education in teachers formation in Venezuela: a study of the scientific production of the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador

Resumo: How the scientific productions on approach science, technology and society are characterized in the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador of Venezuela? With the intention of answering this question, we made the survey of the scientific productions in the line Science, Technology and Society (STS) published in the 26 journals in the area of education belonging to the institution in November 2017, at which time the research took place. So, 2718 articles were search objects to identify whether there was occurrence of at least one of the following expressions: CTS; Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad; CTSA; Ciencia, Tecnología, Sociedad y Ambiente. After this preliminary search in which 12 articles achieved ours goals, we expanded the set of expressions with ideas characteristic of the STS approach from articles located in the preliminary survey. New electronic search was made in the universe of articles in an attempt to exhaust the process of finding works linked to the STS approach, but there was no increase in the number obtained previously. Although this number is small compared to the total number investigated, which can denote the initial stage of the STS approach in the Institution, the analysis of the articles allows us to highlight: appropriation of recognized references in the STS field; existence of a Science, Technology and Society course in teacher’s formation at one of the Institutes of the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador; evidences of pedagogical practices about STS approach in all the articles found. However, perhaps the main contribution of this research is to highlight the potential that this university currently has for the adoption of the STS approach in teacher’s formation in its country.

Con la intención de responder a esta incógnita, fue realizado un levantamiento de las producciones científicas en la línea de Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad (CTS) publicadas en las 26 revistas en el área de educación pertenecientes a la institución durante el mes de noviembre de 2017, momento en el que ocurrió la investigación. Así, 2718 artículos fueron objetos de búsqueda para identificar si había presente, por lo menos, una de las siguientes expresiones: CTS; Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad; CTSA; Ciencia, Tecnología, Sociedad y Ambiente. Después de esa búsqueda preliminar en los 12 artículos que satisfacen nuestros criterios, se amplió el conjunto de expresiones con ideas características del abordaje CTS oriundas de artículos localizados en el levantamiento preliminar. La nueva búsqueda fue hecha en el universo de publicaciones con la tentativa de despejar el proceso de localización de otros artículos vinculados al abordaje CTS, sin embargo, no hubo ampliación en relación al número obtenido anteriormente. Aunque ese número sea pequeño en comparación al total investigado, lo que puede denotar el estudio inicial del abordaje CTS en la Institución, es el análisis de los artículos donde se destacan: Apropiación de referencias reconocidas en el campo CTS; existencia de un curso Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad en la formación de profesores en uno de los institutos de la Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador; evidencias de prácticas pedagógicas con base al enfoque CTS en todos los artículos localizados. Por lo tanto, tal vez la principal contribución de esta investigación sea evidenciar el potencial que actualmente esa universidad tiene para la adopción del enfoque CTS en la formación de profesores del país.Como se caracterizam as produções científicas sobre abordagem Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade na Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador da Venezuela? Com a intenção de responder a esta questão, fizemos o levantamento das produções científicas na linha Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (CTS) publicadas nas 26 revistas na área de educação pertencentes à instituição em novembro de 2017, momento em que ocorreu a investigação. Assim, 2718 artigos foram objetos de busca para identificar se havia ocorrência de pelo menos uma das seguintes expressões: CTS; Ciencia, tecnología y Sociedad; CTSA; Ciencia, Tecnología, Sociedad y Ambiente. Após essa busca preliminar em que 12 artigos satisfizeram nossos critérios, ampliamos o conjunto de expressões com ideias características da abordagem CTS oriundas de artigos localizados no levantamento preliminar. Nova busca eletrônica foi feita no universo de artigos na tentativa de exaurir o processo de localização de trabalhos vinculados à abordagem CTS, mas não houve ampliação no número obtido anteriormente. Embora esse número seja pequeno em comparação ao total investigado, o que pode denotar o estágio inicial da abordagem CTS na Instituição, a análise dos artigos nos permite destacar: apropriação de referências reconhecidas no campo CTS; existência de um curso Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade na formação de professores num dos institutos da Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador; evidências de práticas pedagógicas sob o enfoque CTS em todos os artigos localizados.
