This thesis explores strategies to improve financial literacy based on the three pillars of the concept: Knowledge, Attitude and Behavior. To formulate these policies, a comprehensive mixed-methods approach utilizing both primary and secondary data was employed. Alongside the examination of reports on Portuguese policies regarding financial literacy, ten interviews were conducted to gather diverse opinions and insights on the subject. From the interviews emerged a set of pivotal policies aimed at enhancing financial literacy: integration of financial literacy curricula in schools, regulatory reviews for consumer protection, a comprehensive educational marketing campaign, community-based initiatives, and tailored financial education for adults. The conclusions drawn from these policies are far-reaching. They underscore the potential positive impacts on financial literacy at various levels of society. Increased trust in financial institutions, improved knowledge dissemination from an early age, long-term economic stability, heightened public engagement in financial education, and tailored community interventions represent key implications. In sum, this research highlights the interplay between knowledge, attitudes, and behavior in the realm of financial literacy.
