Pedagogy of Autonomy: necessary knowledge for educational practice

Resumo: This article refers to an essay on special education and the role of the educator in the inclusion process, with the aim of reflecting on teaching practice through the theoretical framework “Pedagogy of Autonomy: necessary knowledge for educational practice”, classic work by the author Paulo Freire, Patron of Brazilian Education. Initially, a historical overview was presented on the different perspectives of disability and special education, also the history of special education in Brazil. Next, there was a dialogue between the Pedagogy of Autonomy and the role of the teacher in the inclusion process. In view of this, the need for a teaching practice focused on the potential and not on the limitations of students with special educational needs is highlighted.

Inicialmente, apresentou-se um panorama histórico sobre as diferentes perspectivas da deficiência e a educação especial, também a história da educação especial no brasil. A seguir, realizou-se um diálogo entre a Pedagogia da Autonomia e o papel do docente no processo de inclusão.
