Resumo: In the light of the historical and dialectical materialism, this text aims to reflect on the contributions of Antonio Gramsci’s thinking to the analysis of education policies. To this end, an incursion into the Gramscian writings in order to highlight his concern with the understanding of reality and the need for its transformation to universally change the way of life of men is made. Some essential assumptions that researchers need to consider when operating with Gramsci’s thinking without becoming methodological bonds are indicated. Finally, the relevance of his writings is reaffirmed. Keywords: Antonio Gramsci. Policy analysis. Education policies.

Education policies.Bajo la luz del materialismo histórico y dialéctico, este texto tiene por finalidad presentar reflexión sobre las contribuciones del pensamiento de Antonio Gramsci al análisis de políticas educativas. Para ello, se hace una incursión en las escrituras Gramscianos para evidenciar su preocupación por la comprensión de la realidad y la necesidad de su transformación con miras a alterar universalmente la forma de vida de los hombres. Se indican algunos supuestos esenciales que los investigadores deben tener en cuenta al operar con el pensamiento de Gramsci sin que se conviertan en ataduras metodológicas. Por último, reafirma la actualidad de sus escrituras. Palabras clave: Antonio Gramsci. Análisis de Políticas.  Políticas Educativas.Sob a luz do materialismo histórico e dialético, este texto tem por finalidade apresentar reflexão acerca das contribuições do pensamento de Antonio Gramsci para a análise de políticas educacionais. Para tanto, faz-se uma incursão nos escritos gramscianos de modo a evidenciar sua preocupação com a compreensão da realidade e a necessidade de sua transformação com vistas a alterar universalmente o modo de vida dos homens. Indicam-se alguns pressupostos essenciais que pesquisadores precisam considerar ao operar com o pensamento de Gramsci sem que se tornem amarras metodológicas.
