Resumo: Abstract: This paper presents the main epistemological traits that characterize the academic production on education policy referenced by the National Association for Research and Graduate Studies (ANPEd). The research examined the abstracts and works approved by the Work Group 5 State and Education Policy, between 2000 and 2009, from the analytical assumptions of the historical and dialectical materialism. The main features point to an overlap of theoretical approaches - they incorporate different paradigms, some linked to dialectical materialism, but they often keep functionalist characteristics.   Keywords: Epistemology of education policies. La investigación examinó los resúmenes y los trabajos aprobados por el GT-5 Estado e Políticas Educacionais, entre 2000 y 2009, partiendo de presupuestos analíticos del materialismo histórico y dialéctico. Los trazos principales apuntan a una superposición de abordajes teóricos - se incorporan distintos paradigmas, algunos ligados al materialismo dialéctico, pero se mantienen, muchas veces, características funcionalistas.       Palabras clave: Epistemologías de las políticas educativas. GT5.Resumo: Este artigo apresenta os principais traços epistemológicos que caracterizam a produção acadêmica sobre política educacional referenciada pela Associação Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Educação (ANPEd). A pesquisa examinou os resumos e os trabalhos aprovados pelo GT-5 Estado e Políticas Educacionais, entre 2000 e 2009, partindo de pressupostos analíticos do materialismo histórico e dialético. Os traços principais apontam para uma sobreposição de abordagens teóricas - incorporarem-se paradigmas distintos, alguns ligados ao materialismo dialético, mas mantêm-se, muitas vezes, características funcionalistas.   Palavras-chave: Epistemologia de políticas educacionais.
