Resumo: The main purpose of this article was to determine the relationship between self-esteem, academic performance and university dropout of students from second to sixth semester of the different careers of the Faculty of Pedagogy of the "Luis Vargas Torres" Technical University of Esmeraldas. For data collection, a survey was conducted on 200 students and 20 teachers, for which a data collection instrument was designed to determine the level of self-esteem, academic performance and student desertion. The results show that men, unlike women, are characterized by having less self-confidence, while women tend to solve problems more efficiently and quickly, however, there is a percentage of female students who have low self-confidence. self-esteem. Based on the above, it is proposed to design and apply strategies to enhance and strengthen self-esteem through workshops that allow comprehensive and professional development, as part of the training of students in such a way that they achieve adequate academic performance. The percentage of students who have dropped out of the different careers should also be taken into account, and the respective follow-up to determine the true causes of the dropout should be taken into account.

The percentage of students who have dropped out of the different careers should also be taken into account, and the respective follow-up to determine the true causes of the dropout should be taken into account.El propósito principal de este artículo fue determinar la relación entre la autoestima, el rendimiento académico y la deserción universitaria de los estudiantes de segundo a sexto semestre de las diferentes carreras de la Facultad de la Pedagogía de la Universidad Técnica “Luis Vargas Torres” de Esmeraldas.  Para la recolección de datos se realizó una encuesta a 200 alumnos y 20 docentes, por lo que se diseñó un instrumento de recolección de datos para determinar el nivel de autoestima, rendimiento académico y deserción de los estudiantes. Los resultados muestran que los hombres, a diferencia de las mujeres, se caracterizan por tener menos confianza en sí mismos, mientras que las mujeres tienden a resolver los problemas con más eficacia y rapidez, sin embargo, existe un porcentaje de estudiantes mujeres que tienen baja autoestima. Con base en lo anterior se propone, diseñar y aplicar estrategias para potenciar y fortalecer la autoestima a través de talleres que permitan el desarrollo integral y profesional, como parte de la formación de los estudiantes de tal forma que alcancen un rendimiento académico adecuado. También se debe tomar en cuenta el porcentaje de estudiantes que han desertado de las diferentes carreras, hacer el seguimiento respectivo para determinar las causas verdaderas de la deserción.O objetivo principal deste artigo foi determinar a relação entre autoestima, desempenho acadêmico e evasão universitária de estudantes do segundo ao sexto semestre das diferentes carreiras da Faculdade de Pedagogia da Universidade Técnica "Luis Vargas Torres" de Esmeraldas. Para a coleta de dados, foi realizada uma pesquisa com 200 alunos e 20 professores, para os quais foi elaborado um instrumento de coleta de dados para determinar o nível de autoestima, desempenho acadêmico e evasão estudantil. Os resultados mostram que os homens, diferentemente das mulheres, caracterizam-se por terem menos autoconfiança, enquanto as mulheres tendem a resolver problemas de forma mais eficiente e rápida, no entanto, existe um percentual de estudantes do sexo feminino que apresentam baixa autoconfiança. Com base no exposto, propõe-se desenhar e aplicar estratégias para aumentar e fortalecer a autoestima por meio de oficinas que possibilitem o desenvolvimento integral e profissional, como parte da formação dos alunos para que alcancem um desempenho acadêmico adequado.
