Resumo: Introduction: COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus that was declared a public health emergency. One of the main problems it faces is whether it is safe for HIV-infected mothers to breastfeed. Objective: To carry out a systematic review by studying the impact that the SARS-CoV-2 virus may have on breastfeeding, and whether the virus or antibodies can be transmitted from mother to child through milk. Methodology: A systematic review of studies focused on the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on breastfeeding in mothers infected with the virus was carried out. The bibliographic search was carried out through Medline (Pubmed), Scielo, Elseiver. A total of 20 articles are included, of which they deal with the study of the RNA of the virus in breast milk, its involvement in breastfeeding and the study of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in milk. Results: Breastfeeding by SARS-CoV-2 infected mothers is highly recommended for infants, if the health of the mother and the infant allow it. Direct breastfeeding and the maintenance of adequate protection measures should be encouraged. If the mother's health status does not allow direct breastfeeding, infants should be fed expressed breast milk or donor milk.

Sapienza Grupo Editorial2022-06-09info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/39410.51798/sijis.v3i2.394Sapienza: International Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies; Vol. 3 No. 3 (2022): Dossier: Current affairs in Health Sciences; 53-68Sapienza: International Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies; Vol. 3 Núm. 3 (2022): Dossier: Actualidad en Ciencias de la Salud; 53-68Sapienza: International Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies; v. 3 n. 3 (2022): Dossiê: Atualidades em Ciências da Saúde; 53-682675-9780reponame:Sapienza (Curitiba)instname:Sapienza Grupo Editorialinstacron:SAPIENZAspahttps://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/article/view/394/255Copyright (c) 2022 Carmen Marlene Salguero Fiallos, Verónica Paulina Herrera Calderón, Esther del Rocío Benavides Rovalino, Mónica Guadalupe Paredes Garcéshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSalguero Fiallos, Carmen Marlene Herrera Calderón, Verónica Paulina Benavides Rovalino, Esther del Rocío Paredes Garcés, Mónica Guadalupe 2022-12-26T21:05:53Zoai:ojs2.journals.sapienzaeditorial.com:article/394Revistahttps://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJISPRIhttps://journals.sapienzaeditorial.com/index.php/SIJIS/oaieditor@sapienzaeditorial.com2675-97802675-9780opendoar:2023-01-12T16:42:58.555261Sapienza (Curitiba) - Sapienza Grupo Editorialfalse
