Tourism public policies in the federal legislation of Santa Catarina State

Tourism represents one of the economical activities which has been developed in the Brazilian tertiary sector, once Santa Catarina state has achieved enough expressivity in the last decades. As a social, economic and ecological practice, that organizes and produces the location, tourism generates relations of power and territoriality that justify the interest of this phenomenon from geographical slant. The need of a better organization of the tourism sector has bought the planning, which in turn, has made the creation of public organs and laws to conduct the tourism public policy in Brazil. This research, with bibliographical and documental character, aimed discussing the tourism public policies current in the federal legislation and in Santa Catarina state under the perspective of territorial planning. It has been verified that tourism still needs to be bolstered for legal instruments, including in the case of environmental resources protection, thus ensuring the continuation of this activity for those who need it for their subsistence.
