Resumo: | Birdwatching is an activity linked to nature that has become increasingly common among the population and has multiple potentialities. Among one of its potentialities, it can be cited as a tool to raise awareness of more critical subjects from an ethics of planetary care. The objective of this article was to survey the avifauna on trails in the Três Picos State Park; to contribute to the practice of bird watching and thus contribute to environmental education, public use and ecotourism in the conservation unit. The work was carried out on three trails at the Jequitibá headquarters, in the Três Picos State Park, in the municipality of Cachoeiras de Macacu (RJ, Brazil). The trails were covered between August 2013 and October 2017 and the observed birds were photographed during the sampling sessions. To guide visitors, especially birdwatchers, the trails were described in detail and characterized in terms of their level of difficulty, according to criteria used in mountaineering. A total of 97 bird species were recorded, distributed in 15 orders. The order Passeriformes was the one with the highest number of species. Among the families, Thraupidae (Passeriformes) was the one with the highest richness, with 20 species. The level of difficulty of the trails can be classified as light to moderate, varying among them the type of floor, slope, insolation, and signaling. The highest species richness was recorded on the Estrada do Jequitibá e Pátio trail (n=78 species). The importance of this survey of avifauna is highlighted for complementing activities such as a strategy to facilitate activities on trails, the promotion of future activities of interpretation and environmental education. In addition to highlighting the importance of building dialogic practices with the local community and stimulating the practice of sustainable ecotourism by visitors to this conservation unit in the long term and on an ongoing basis; as one more strategy for the conservation of socio-environmental heritage. |
