For a curriculum in defense of the truth: Science and Biology teaching between scientific negationism and gender inequality

Resumo: We aimed to build reflections about the need for science curriculum committed to the defense of truth, considering the current debate in the field between perspectives of combating scientific denialism and perspectives of valuing diversity. We present the recent neoliberal curricular reforms and the precariousness of teaching work as enemies of these two perspectives. Next, we approach two didactic proposals implemented with elementary school students, discussing the role of women in the history of science and the construction of tools to identify fake news. Starting from the analysis of the answers constructed by the students during the development of the proposals, we maintain that the defense of the truth is indispensable for teaching science for social justice and against scientific denialism.

Presentamos las recientes reformas curriculares neoliberales y la precariedad del trabajo docente como enemigos de estas dos perspectivas. Abordamos dos propuestas didácticas implementadas con estudiantes de grado sexto, discutiendo el papel de la mujer en la historia de la ciencia y la construcción de herramientas para la identificación de noticias falsas. A partir del análisis de las respuestas construidas por los estudiantes durante el desarrollo de las propuestas, sostenemos que la defensa de la verdad es indispensable en la enseñanza de las ciencias para la justicia social y contra el negacionismo científico.Tivemos por objetivo construir reflexões sobre a necessidade de currículos de ciências comprometidos com a defesa da verdade, considerando o debate atual no campo entre perspectivas de combate ao negacionismo científico e perspectivas de valorização das diversidades. Apresentamos as recentes reformas curriculares neoliberais e a precarização do trabalho docente como inimigas dessas duas perspectivas. Seguidamente, abordamos duas propostas didáticas implementadas com alunas(os) do ensino fundamental discutindo o papel da mulher na história da ciência e a construção de ferramentas para a identificação de fake news.
