“Refazenda Morada Agroecológica” is a rural residence for Bachelor and Master students in Agroecology at UFSCar, Araras, São Paulo, which occupies an area of 5,000m² and is surrounded by the conventional culture of sugarcane. In 2011, when it was founded, its residents began to cultivate the yard. People who graduated left the residence and their vacancies were occupied by people who entered the university and chose to live in the countryside. This was also the case for the people who managed the residence's yard. Management carried out was governed by agroforestry principles. The general objective of this work is to study the case of the agroforestry yard of Refazenda. The results obtained in this work serve to support arguments about the benefits of producing food at home and the consolidation of the theoretical knowledge obtained in the classroom.
